Late Pick 5 Ticket

Gulfstream Park 03-13-21

Race 8:  A 12 Furlong Turf Race to start the late pick 5.  I usually avoid these races or hit the ALL button. Today, I prefer the horses with recent wins at the distance: 4,6,7.    Sancal's  4 Yamato won recently at the distance;  DePaulo's 6 Theregoesjojo shows a recent win at the distance, and Joseph's 7Rijeka is the only horse with multiple wins at the distance.  If I had to add horses it would be Steve Klesaris's 2 Soglio  and Maker's 5 Bourban in May. Let's see how it plays out.

RESULTS: 5-7-6 Favorite wins at 2/1

Race 9:  A $ 55 K Maiden Special Weight going 9F on the turf.  I feel a need to spread 1,9,10,11.  Clement is a must play for me on the Turf even with Leparoux riding ( 1 Gwame River Valley). Barclay Tagg's 8 Fly Like An Eagle is a deserving favorite;  Mcgaughey's 9 Biggie is well rated by Mazur as an FTS; Mott's horses seems to always improve, so 10 Hardison has a chance.  Finally, do not leave Pletcher's 10 First Task off tour ticket.  Pletcher is kind of a sneaky excellent turf trainer

RESULTS: 8-3-2 Favorite wins at 2-1

Race 10: A Dirt Allowance Optional Claiming for 52K.  I prefer the 2, 3.  Romans' 2 Funnybet has 3 wins and a second in the four appearances; Sano's 3 Don't Get Khozy won its last race.

RESULTS: 2-3-4  Favorite wins at 3/5

Race 11: A 5 Furlong Turf Sprint seems to go through Casse's 1 Yes I Am Free and Cibelli's My Ty One On.

RESULTS:  4-7-5 Favorite wins at 4/5

Race 12:  In the 8 Furlong Turf 24k finale, I'll spread using the 1,4,5, and 11. I have been chasing the 1 Ninja Dust since two summers ago at Saratoga; Weaver's 4 Danzing Dunhill and Maker's 5 Digital Appeal seem logical; Kopaj's 11 Guaco is rounding into form.   Finally, I may add Hills' 6 Beach Traffic, but Hills is not having a great meet and seems more like a horse to use underneath to spice up the exotics.

RESULTS: 4-5-1 finally a 6-1 horse on top

That is a 96 dollar play, but you will need to be comfortable not playing the 2 and 5 in the first leg. If you beat the 2 and 5 in first leg--the Pick 5 will be worth the nearly 100.00 investment -- or play the 2 and 5 with my other picks and save some money and get the top two choices in the first leg.

Let's see how the picks play out!

Lesson Learned: Play the chalk in the horizontal wagers because the two times Race 8 and Race 11 when I tried to beat the favorite, the favorite beat me.  In other words, Include the logical horse!
