My Five Percent Ownership
Recently, I joined up with two other investors to buy a race horse. I provided 1,000 dollars for 5 percent while they covered the rest of the cost. We had her run twice in 15 days, once at Pimlico, where she won, and 15 days later at Monmouth, where she finished second. Unfortunately, we sold the horse in a private sale-the price was right. Now, I have an owner's license in Maryland and New Jersey but no horse.
I Need Another Horse
I thought about buying in on small time trainer in PA, Justafarm.com Then, I looked into West Point Thoroughbreds (probably my goal ), but I cannot afford 5 -7 thousand plus monthly fees, at least not yet.
So, I decided not to wait for another horse and jumped in on buying micro-shares from Myracehorse.com You may not remember, but Authentic, winner of the Kentucky Derby and Breeders' Cup Classic last year, was own by numerous people who bought micro-shares in the horse.
Myracehorse.com offers a lottery for paddock privileges and if you are in the lottery, you can join in the winner's circle for a picture even if you do not win the paddock lottery.
Micro-shares allowed me to buy a piece of three horses, one trained by Christophe Clement (Miss Sakamoto) and two horses trained by Bill Mott (Magical Ways and Courtisane 19) - two of the best and most honest trainers in the training business. Without the micro-shares, i would not be able to afford Clement and Mott Horses.

I hope to attend a few Myracehorse.com events and even see the three horses race -- it would be great to see the three horses in Saratoga this summer or even Belmont in the Fall. It will be even better if one of the horses wins at Saratoga, and I can be in the Winner's Circle.

AUTHENTIC shareholders receive one (1) free tour and may bring one (1) guest. Admission for guests (e.g., spouses, other family members & friends) is $23 per person. Children ages 17 and under receive free admission.

So far, the buying of the micro-share was easy.

After the purchase, you can log in to see videos and receive updates as well as follow the horses on the Myracehorse.com Facebook page - micro-share members only access - you will be provided a link with your purchase.
The micro-shares will not lead to comma money, but they will provide some added interest, potential winning and learning experiences.
