Playing Light this Weekend: NCAA March Madness is the focus

Late Pick 4 at Gulfstream 03-20-2021

Let's jump right in to the picks:

A's                    B's                     C's

Race 9:    10, 3, 2              1, 7                      5, 9

Race 10:    4                     8,5,1                       7

Race 11:   1,3,4                  6,7

Race 12:   1,6,7                  2

In Race 9, I will play Mott, Mcgaughey, and Maker-  always play the 1 defensively at Gulfstream but I do not love Leparoux ever and I am always on the wrong side of him. The 7 horse is interesting with a new trainer and JJ riding, and finally, I watch the odds on the 5 out of Flatter for my friend who loves all Flatter progeny and Dixie Union's on turf.

In Race 10, the 4 horse Pacific Gale lays over the field.  Kimmel's bard has been on fire in 2021 recovering from a chilly 2020.  I know the old racing adage "missed the wedding; don't show up to the funeral (Pacific gale won at 16-1 last time out), but the best horse is still the best horse.  I have watched a lot of gamblers lose money because they held a grudge.  Play the logical horse. I will play the inside post defensively and  like McGaughey even with Leparoux riding.

In Race 11:  Ward's Carimba ( # 1) has done nothing wrong.  I hav already made my feelings known about the post position.  Brad Cox sends out #3 Field Day -- Cox has been weak at Gulfstream - maybe he is due, but I am certain he will not be in southern Florida today with bigger fish to fry in Louisiana.  Finally, I like #4 Maker's Kasim to close if a speed duel emerges up front.

In Race 12,  I went with the logical horses, but would play the 1 for value and if I can eliminate a few horses in the earlier legs, I will add the class dropping #2  Shot Tanker at 30-1.  Meneses is riding well.

Many of my picks are with the blue blood trainers like Mott McGaughey, Maker, and Ward.  But, I play what I know.  Also, with Saez and J Ortiz out of town, and Irad serving a suspension.  I expect Edgard Zayas, Paco Lopez and Tyler Gaffalione to have their best days.  I am putting a check next to Tyler for 3 wins today.

Lessons today:

Play the logical horse in horizontal wagers

Play tried and true trainers

Play Tyler, Paco, and Edgard with the leading riders out of town.

Watch JJ Castellano jumping on a horse for a little known trainer -- Advanced Strategy may win at a price in Race 9.

Let's see what we learn today!
