Parx Selections for Wednesday October 20th, 2021

The Principal has decided to share his crew's Parx insights every Wednesday -- calling it "Whacky Wednesdays."  The Parx selections will have a closer look with some special plays including  Einstein's Smart Play of the Day, the Rueben Special, Aramis smells a Long Shot, Jackpot pick of the day, Barclay's Prime $100 Cheesesteak Pick, and the HOF Play of the Day .  Below are the Parx Selections for Wednesday October 20th, 2021

A Special thanks to Chris Griffin @inthegrandstand for the feature image shared on his twitter account. Taken some pictures this afternoon for future Wednesday features.

Race 1

Jackpot Pick of the Day

4 Angel Raphael looks to close with the apprentice.

Others to consider:

6 Lula's Roadrunner has been consistent performer and trainer Dominguez is 23% with first claims.  2 Sundae Inn is sent out by JT Servis and is second off the layoff a 27% move plus is dropping from 12.5K NW4L to 7.5K NW4L. 5 Mani Pedi is a last out winner and if you throw out the sprint race two back the speed figures make her a contender.

Race 2

The Jaime Ness trained 4 Wick with Frankie Pennington in the saddle - offers little value-- but hard to argue with 37% trainer / Jock combo and 34% winners especially when dropping in class.  Tim Smylie trainee 3 Spartak has been working well for return -- has not been seen since January --but was consistent when running then and shows good morning moves - no world beaters in this race. Robert Mosco's 2 Couch Dreams is dropping in class goes turf to dirt but will need to have a little more giddy up to win here.

Race 3

The Smart Einstein Smart Play of the Day:

4 Risque Rebel drops out of ALW and back to CLM level since claimed from Club Risque Stables has only had one fast track and should get  those conditions for this race -- BTW horse now owned by Speed Genius Stables therefore Einstein's Smart Play!

Aramis Smells a Long Shot Play: 3 Local Hero

others to consider:

7 Indian Counselor ships in from NY for trainer Kantarmaci while 8 Off The Meds ships up from Delaware after a third place finish Ness / Pennington combo must respect.

Race 4

The Rueben Special

6 One Two Kid --6/10 ITM -- play if the morning line holds!

others to consider:

Saffie Joseph has two entries in the race: 2 Chao  10 Mystery Bank (recent gelding)  Does anyone else feel like he has not won since the Championship meet at Gulfstream ended? Well, maybe he needs to figure thinks out and is trying to do so in Bensalem.  Pennington rides 2 Chao while Kendrick Carmouche rides 10 Mystery Bank -- must respect but skeptical with Joseph these days.  5 Souper Energizer is a reclaim and a last out winner - always good to see.  1 Borgobythesea has won two in a row and nothing wrong with that may be up against tougher in this race.

Bill's Mafia Pick:

9 Robert's Luxury is a last out winner at Laurel - -How does Sean McDermott find the time to coach the Bills and train horses? --after Monday night he may want to focus on stopping the run.

Race 5

HOF Play of the Day:

1 Three Potatoe Four -- Patty Farro newly inductee to the Parx Hall of Fame is 12-1 on the ML.

others to consider:

Is Turf to Dirt the latest move - Parx trainers are like the NFL copycat league -- 3,4,5,6 are all moving turf to dirt -- I guess if one of them wins that means the angle works !

Trainer Robert Mosco needs to get some cash in return for these 40k claim back in May, so 5 Day's Humor needs to hit the board -horses cost money - food, stable, vet, training fees, etc... Adorno with Mosco is 29% angle but 2-1 off a nine month layoff -- include but seek value. 3 Shining Colors and 6 Hay Nineteen have the best dirt BSF's at this distance while 3 Shining Colors shows a win at the SPA.

However, 4 Taqseemaat, claimed in almost every race so far, steps on the dirt for the second time and has shown speed on turf -- maybe it translates to the brown and forgets to look back.

Race 6

Trainer Louis Linder's 3 The Big Bluff has speed but has not negotiated the tricky 7 furlong distance -- will be bet down based on last speed figure and presence of Pennington -- Linder / Pennington 42 % winners.  Include 3 The Big Bluff, but 5 Nice of Me has been running 7 furlong races and throw out the last race in the slop and horse fits, but the value is the 1 Struck and Plum is the only horse showing a win at 7 furlongs and is 2/3 in ITM at the distance.

Race 7:

Barclay's Prime $100 Cheesesteak Lock of the Day: 1 Hooray for Harvey

others to consider:

Trainer Jacinto Solis has been hot lately -- not certain how 4 Kid Macho fits the eligibility for this condition - but last out winner and winner two back - MUSt include.  8 Classified Info picks up Nick Juarez and 9 Jamming Jimtown gets the services of Silvera who defected from 8 Classified Info in spite of last out win.  4 Legal Gump overs value since Wyner is excellent off the claim and Bowman has had some nice winners recently.

Race 8

4 Nostalgic Run for TAP and Carmouche  to win; 2 Supreme Being and 3 Smarten Up have outside chance, but will pay as all the money will be on the 4.

Race 9

6 Castagno ships in from NY and gets Paco; 12 French Toast first try on turf; 9 Northern Express first time lasix first time turf -- maybe chunks up underneath.

Race 10

While the finale looks to be a rematch between the 1 and 5-- Parx has had some bombers in the last race so I included potential horses to include on the Big Philly Five Tickets.

1 Queen Abarrio and 5 Pretty Pants dueled on the front end last out at Delaware Park -- cost them both the race.  they may duel again and the value will be with 1 Queen Abarrio second off the layoff.  Look for 4 Cape Cod Sally or 6 Crick to try to run them down late -- maybe a long shot play is 10 Gunfighter's Girl or 8 Millifiori who only ran once on the dirt for Monica McGoey at Gulfstream Park.
